This Wednesday, 14 September, we’re participating in International #AskACurator Day on Twitter and Facebook. It’s an opportunity to ask our curators about anything that you are curious about or would like more information on. Our curatorial team will be on standby to answer your curliest questions about our collections, exhibitions and programs. Simply ask your question using the hashtag #AskACurator and mention @ANMMuseum in your tweet or leave the question on our Facebook post.

We are encouraging teachers to join in and ask our curators questions too. You might be a teacher who is doing swimwear, immigration or early explorers in the classroom, looking to connect your students with a cultural institution, or just have a burning question you have always wanted to ask. Follow @ANMMedu and Tweet your questions. Our curators will be standing by.

Meet our team who will be answering your questions

Dr. Mary-Elizabeth Andrews is our special projects Curator and is currently working on developing several exhibitions.

Donna Carstens is our Indigenous Curator who is revitalising our Indigenous programs and collections.

Daina Fletcher works on the art collections and has worked on exhibitions about swimwear, beach history, windjammer voyages and Antarctic adventurers.

Dr. Stephen Gapps is the Curator of recent exhibitions War at Sea – the Navy in WWI and Black Armada.

Dr. James Hunter is a maritime archaeologist who specialises in the history of the Royal Australian Navy.

David Payne is our Curator of Historic Vessels, with a particular focus on those that still exist, and their stories.

How do I join in?

  • Leave your question as a comment on our Facebook post.
  • Log in to your Twitter account (or join up if you don’t have one, it’s not nearly as scary as you think).
  • Write your question as a tweet and tag @ANMMuseum or @ANMMedu.
  • Make sure you add the hashtag #AskACurator so everyone can see, too!

Where will I find the answers to my question?

On Thursday we’ll post a blog with the answers to your questions.
