History

The Classic and Wooden Boat Festival has been managed by the Australian National Maritime Museum for over two decades.

A unique blend of classic craft set in the Darling Harbour precinct is a special experience for all boat lovers. Over the years, the festival has attracted huge crowds, all keen to enjoy the beauty of boating.

They come to see some extraordinary craft. The glorious beauty of SY Ena, one of less than a handful of steam yachts from Edwardian and Victorian eras still operating, along with her cousin Lady Hopetoun. Another regular feature is the only large fleet of Halvorsen cruisers in the country - recognised throughout Australia as an icon of our boat building history.

You won't just experience the beauty of classic yachts - there are stunning tall ships, racing sculls and stylish power craft on display, plus all the fun of the Quick’n’Dirty boat building competition, where practical design gives way to pure creativity.

The Classic & Wooden Boat Festival is a special, must-see event on Sydney’s waterfront that you won't want to miss!
