Mini Mariners (2-5 years and carers)

Selected Tuesdays and Saturdays during term time and school holidays. New theme every month. 

Explore the galleries, sing and dance in interactive tours with costumed guides. Enjoy creative free play, craft, games and story time in our themed activity area.

Come back throughout the year for a new theme each month! 

 

 

June: Pirates Ahoy

Let's follow the treasure map around the museum to find the secret treasure cave. Learn how to sing, dance and scrub the deck like a pirate. Then you can decorate your own pirate hat or parrot puppet to take home and enjoy some special pirate science experiments.

July: Alphabet Animals

A is for anemone, Z is for Zebrafish. Take a journey through the zoo-phonic alphabet of all things furry, feathered and finned as we spot amazing animal specimens and objects in the museum.

Enjoy touch tours with creature specimens, movement, songs, games, craft and free play in our themed activity space. Make your own animal puppet or block-printed hat to take home.

August: Aquanaut Adventurers

Dive, dive, dive into an imaginary underwater adventure. Enjoy touch tours with shipwreck and sea creature specimens, movement, songs, games, craft and free play in our themed activity space. Make your own painted submarine, sea creature puppet or hat to take home.

DECEMBER - Under the Sea!

Wobble like a jellyfish, glide like a tortoise and snap like a shark as we make our way through the museum to discover the magnificent world of creatures that live under the sea. Enjoy a touch tour of sea-specimens and objects, listen to stories, and create your own watercolour painting or sea creature headdress.

Pack your bags for an imaginative journey up, off and away, over- seas in a special character tour for under 5s and their carers. explore different cultures and places from across the seas. Sing songs, dance and enjoy storytime. Then you can create your own collaged birds or print a calico book bag to take home.
