The Endeavour will be taking two groups of NSW Health workers out to sea in a program called Covid Heroes.

The museum, like many organisations, wanted to acknowledge and thank the frontline workers of NSW Health for their tireless work throughout the pandemic, which is of course, still ongoing.

There is a great need for vessels such as the Endeavour to sail regularly. The museum is preparing an ongoing sailing schedule for its vessels, post-COVID -19 and these two NSW Health collaborative voyages mark the start of that program.

We look forward to sharing plans for the sailing program with the public once they are finalised.

The course of each voyage will be determined by the weather conditions each day. The vessel will depart from and return to the Maritime Museum. It will not be docking at any other port.

We know you will join us in thanking our hard working NSW Health personnel.

Endeavour sailing update-24 March 2022

Unfortunately the replica Endeavour had to return to the Australian National Maritime Museum after 3 days voyaging due to a crew member returning a positive RAT test.

As per the COVID plan for the voyage – all crew undertook a RAT test on day 3 of the voyage and once identified as positive, the crew member was isolated in a cabin and the Master made the decision to return to the museum.

A 2nd voyage was due to depart the museum on March 28. Due to isolation requirements and for the safety of all concerned, a decision has been made to cancel the second voyage. The museum is notifying the NSW Health participants. We will advise them of future sailing opportunities in due course.

The vessel has been deep cleaned and will reopen to the public in the coming days.
